Summary of Duties:

 

The Assistant Campus Director of Engaged Learning and Career Action Center for Students (ELCA) at Washington State University is a pivotal leadership role charged with overseeing both the New Coug Orientation programs and the Career Action Center. Reporting to the Campus Director of ELCA, the successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to social justice, equity, inclusion, and anti-racist practices.

 

With a primary focus on career development initiatives, the role involves leading the Career Action Center's operations, cultivating employer relationships, coordinating career fairs, and providing tailored career services for a diverse student body.

 

However, paramount to this position is the strategic partnership with the Campus Director of ELCA to successfully lead New Coug Orientation programs, ensuring seamless transitions for first-year students, overseeing orientation outcomes, and supporting underrepresented student populations.

 

Supervision of staff and active involvement in career advising further characterize this multifaceted role, making it ideal for a dynamic individual dedicated to student success and holistic development.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Positions require a Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. One (1) or more years of experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Master's degree in related field.

 

• Experience in higher education administration, including grant management, budgeting, staff supervision and program development and evaluation.

 

• Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and leadership, including the ability to work independently.

 

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively in a diverse team environment.

 

• Evidence of successful experience with programmatic organizational skills, such as planning, implementation, and evaluation.

 

• Attention to detail, organized, and multi-tasking to meet deadlines.

 

• Bilingual in English and Spanish: at a minimum, the ability to understand and to make one's self understood to all Spanish speaking individuals.
