Aerotek Senior Plant Operations Manager in St. Louis, Missouri

Description:

Provide leadership that drives personal and professional growth in plant operations: -Champion the food safety culture within plant operations. -Mentor personnel on leadership and the importance of personal and professional growth. -Develop and adapt training programs to fluctuating needs of the business. -Report on manufacturing metrics like attainment, throughput, production line availability, and OEE -Set the standards for daily execution of start up, linear operations, post op. -Readily provide manufacturing metrics benchmarked against budget, and other business goals. -Drive accountability through regular oversight on attendance. -Readily Report on and use metrics to drive engagement and overall success of the manufacturing team -Use Red Zone as a mechanism for managing activities within the production including huddles, engagement, quality checks, and downtime codes. -Regularly review trends within Availability/OEE on a routine basis to drive execution and changes as required to increase Availability/OEE company goals. -Ensure compliance with safety regulations, food safety standards, and environmental guidelines. -Provide a platform that facilitates effective escalation with emphasis on frontline response to downtime. -Work with quality to support effective CAPA resolution to incidents, deviations, or standards.

Execute production decisions and schedule: -Execute the production schedule with a level of flexibility that minimizes impact of interruptions typical within a manufacturing environment. -Guide daily personnel direction in all production and packaging functions of plant operations. -Use product and process knowledge to allocate materials, labor, and equipment necessary to achieve production orders. -Follow internal escalation protocols across multiple areas of the business including Customer Service, Quality, and Employee Experience -Understand product and customer dynamics at a level that drives order fulfillment and meets customer expectations. -Communicate through proper channels on production changes that potentially impact service levels. -Provide plant operations knowledge to drive continuous improvement -Employ a systematic approach to continuous improvement. -Attach a continuous improvement mindset to all manufacturing processes. -Optimize production processes and minimize downtime. -Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement corrective action to minimize deviations. -Develop and maintain performance metrics to track progress and drive continuous improvement efforts. -Set and participate in regular production meetings to discuss challenges and opportunities for enhancing schedule attainment.

Thermal process oversight: -Ensure compliance with internal and external standards with a focus on SQF, HACCP, USDA, and FDA requirements. Set and achieve thermal process schedule. Schedule off-shift (night and weekend) thermal processing activities. Leverage product and process knowledge against equipment constraints to maximize systemwide plant operations. Coordinate daily thermal processing activities and prioritize activities based on production and customer order requirements. Control master cook list and ensure all data is complete and accurate. Review thermal processing records for completeness and accuracy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, industrial engineering, industrial technology, food science or supply chain management is preferred. Prior manufacturing experience (6+ years) with a proven track record of leadership and results. In-depth knowledge of production management, risk management, and safety regulations. Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP). Excellent organization, time management, and leadership skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead cross-team communication both verbally and in writing. Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
