Here’s the Gist:

Wolfspeed's Materials Operations team is seeking Machinists to support the Crystal Growth Team. Machinists support development and sustain manufacturing operations to enable the production of high-quality Silicon Carbide (SiC) crystals. This position is responsible for the manufacturing of highly unique parts using lathes, mills and metrology tools. The Crystal Growth department is the starting point for Wolfspeed's industry-leading technology, and members of this team are key to the quality and success of all downstream Wolfspeed products.

Individuals in this role will work a 12-hour night shift. Individuals in this role will initially train on day shift prior to transition to night shift.

The Day-to-Day:
 

  • Assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment.
  • Work from set up sheets and drawings to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of material to precision dimensions.
  • Communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly.
  • Check and inspect machining operations against specified tolerances.

This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):
 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, schematics, and drawings
  • Minimum of 2 years equipment machining experience - (milling, grinders, lathes)
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Must be able to lift 65 lbs
  • May be required to stretch, bend or kneel for periods of time while performing tasks
  • Strong work ethic and self-starter. Able to perform assigned tasks with little direction/supervision.
  • Strong sense of ownership in work performed
  • Good math skills; Should possess the ability to work with decimals

Preferred Skills:

  • CNC Programming Skills
  • Certification or Associates degree - CNC Machining, Mechatronics, Welding

This role may require additional duties and/or assignments as designated by management.
