Summary of Role:

GF is seeking an experienced Analog Design Engineer/Manager to lead a team of designers to design Analog and power management sub-systems which include critical blocks such as DC-DC converter, Gate Drivers, Op-Amps, Rectifier/Inverters, Bandgap, charge pump and comparator blocks using leading edge IC technologies such as FDSOI, FinFET, CMOS, SiGe, BCD and GaN technologies.

This effort involves identifying, designing, and demonstrating Analog and Power Management circuit and system architectures synergistic with GlobalFoundries process technology and emerging market requirements for smart mobile, Automotive and IoT. Understanding of and experience with Industrial Power Management, Smart Mobile Power Management and Automotive Battery Management System will be an important part of the role to understand industry requirements and emerging communication and Automotive systems standards. You will design while using early release and production ready Process Design Kits (PDKs), technology and tool enablement.

You will use your design experience to design product-relevant demonstration hardware achieving industry-leading core functionality that meets or surpasses competitive technology performance. With your industry background you will provide feedback that will guide the associated Analog and Power Management technology definition and design enablement needed by our customers to be successful in their product development. You will also present your results to strategic foundry customers thereby accelerating their time-to-market on GlobalFoundries silicon.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product management and end markets to define critical performance requirements for analog and power management blocks for the next generation communications and automotive standards.

  • Develop state-of-the art Foundry Analog and Power Management Reference Designs for applications such as Smart Mobile, Infrastructure, IoT and Automotive end markets.

  • Design, implement and tape-out the relevant Foundry Analog/Power Management & RF Reference design prototypes on internal test chips and MPWs that will highlight the unique features and capabilities of GLOBALFOUNDRIES technologies such as SiGe, GaN, RFSOI, FinFET and FD-SOI.

  • You will do physical design of critical elements of circuitry including calibration, and/or work with physical design and verification engineers to complete the physical design and SOC floorplan.

  • Perform electrical verification and modifications to meet specifications.

  • Characterize silicon designs and/or work with external packaging and test engineers to comprehensively test enough ICs to demonstrate achievement of critical performance requirements.

  • Analyze characterization data and document results for sharing.

  • Work with design partners and customers to communicate design and technology value propositions regarding performances of the Foundry Reference Designs designed by you and the broader team.

  • Collaborate with innovators at research institutions and universities to push the performance envelope in related fields and future applications of the GF differentiated technology.

  • Manage tapeout database and design collateral for the Reference Design Team

  • Work with designers to package reference design database to share with foundry customers

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and programs

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's/PhD Degree from an Accredited University in Electrical Engineering, Solid State Physics, Science or Related Discipline

  • 10 or More Years of Relevant Experience (ex: Design of Analog/Power Management blocks using nanometer scale IC design technologies including SiGe, RFSOI, FD-SOI, and/or FinFET)

  • Prior Experience performing SOC floorplan, analog design, ESD, mixed-signal simulation and verification.

  • Prior Experience working with early release PDKs and technologies.

  • Prior experience with one or more CAD tools and frameworks from Keysight, Cadence or Mathworks for effective calculation and verification of critical design parameters.

  • Project and Tapeout Management experience

  • Minimal Travel Requirements

  • Language Fluency: English (Written & Verbal)

  • On-site work minimum 4 days a week

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience with one or more electromagnetic simulation/extraction tools such as those from Calibre, Quantus QRC, Lorentz, AnSoft, Keysight etc.

  • Experience with package design, PCB Design, lab characterization, Analog, and/or Mixed-Signal integrated circuits.

  • Prior Product Design Experience with FDSOI, FinFET, CMOS, SiGe, BCD and GaN technologies

  • Experience with calibration blocks for Analog and Power Management blocks

  • Experience with Tapeout PTRF Integration, Assembly & Verifications

  • Experience with Power Management circuit design for mobile handsets and/or Automotive Battery Management Systems

  • Ability to communicate clearly, organize effectively and work with a group of designers.
