In this role you would perform varied tasks associated with visual and dimensional inspection, from first article through final inspection, required in the fabrication and development of composite/metal components and assemblies, bonded parts, and other miscellaneous accessories.
WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
This position reports to the Quality Manager.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
--Work from general or written instructions, read blueprints, interrogate models, utilize inspection check sheets, standard inspection directives, and interpret procedures.
--Perform in-process, final inspection, and test operations to ensure quality standards for composite/metal component quality of workmanship and functional performance.
--Inspect composite/metal components and perform part verification regarding locations, parallelism, height, angles and shapes using precision measuring equipment such as gages, calipers, scales and micrometers.
--Perform process and product audits. Recommend changes in standards, techniques, and procedures as warranted.
--Prepare inspection reports, document observations such as non-conformances
--Review production difficulties that are traceable to newly-built or faulty tooling, vendor-supplied material and/or manufacturing production procedures.
--Maintain contact with process engineering, manufacturing operations, and supplier quality assurance.
--Communicate ideas, problems, and suggestions to supervisory authority. Refer unusual or unacceptable conditions to Supervisor or Quality Engineer.
--Assist in the development and maintenance of a corporate culture that supports the Company's overall business objectives and goals by providing leadership in issues that involve cost, quality, processes, schedules and people.
--Ensure the company's commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment through the establishment and support of Company policy and adherence to various government regulations.
--Fully comply with the GKN Aerospace, Inc. Policy Statement on Contracting with the United States Government in all areas of responsibility involving direct and indirect contracting with the United States Government. Ensure subordinate staff is aware of the policy and their individual responsibilities and accountability for complying with it.
--Comply with the Company's human resources policies and procedures to provide fair and equitable treatment for all employees while ensuring optimum productivity and resource utilization.
--All other duties as assigned.
--High School or technical school graduate required. Technical school diploma preferred.
--Minimum of 2 years direct and progressive experience in hands-on manufacturing, with emphasis on quality operations required.
--Previous experience with aircraft fastener installations desired (rivets, Hi-lites, Hi-loks, etc).
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE OF:
--Requires knowledge of arithmetic involving decimals and fractions, and their applications to drawings, sketches and measuring instruments.
--Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
REQUIRED SKILL IN:
--Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions.
--Ability and willingness to perform a wide range of physical activities, some requiring fine manual dexterity; to identify non-conformance or other discrepancies in materials and/or processes required; and communicate job problems to a supervisor.
--Ability to work independently from manufacturing sketches, and engineering drawings required.
--Ability to interpret models desired.
--Ability to use calibrated measuring instruments such as micrometers, scales, and calipers.
--Must be willing to work with a team as well as independently.
