About The Opportunity

Job Summary:As part of the Engineering team located in the

GKN Aerospace Newington, CT this position will have the opportunity to work

directly with production manufacturing personnel and purchasing from other GKN

sites, along with suppliers and equipment builders on cutter grinding for

cutters that are used to machine aerospace components.

Core Responsibilities:

· Run trials of different cutters on different aerospace parts.

· Communicate with cutter grinding companies and cutter grinding equipment builders.

· Document and prepare Power Points based on data gathered for business case.

· Recommend and introduce process improvements.

· Support Part Responsible Engineer (PRE) in manufacturing discussions and propose changes to reduce cost and improve manufacturability.

· Nonconformance investigation including root cause and corrective actions, assessment of further process improvements.

· Update business case and cost analysis documentation.

· Gather milling cutter data from 3 New England sites.

· Support ongoing continuous improvement activities.

· Perform other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Experience:

· 2+ years in pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. (Active Student)

· Ability to work in a self-directed or team environment.

· Excellent communication, organizational and teaming skills.

· Strong time management and project management skills.

· Strong analytical abilities.

· Proficient computer skills Microsoft Office and NX preferred.

· Knowledge of manufacturing operations & strategies.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and specifications preferred.
