The Prime Video (PV) Search Engineering team is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager with a strong technical background, and a passion for search technologies, applied science, information retrieval problems, and digital entertainment. We are making a step change in the look, feel and quality of our Search. We are innovating with cutting edge Machine Learning technologies like Large Language Models including Retrieval-Augmented Generation techniques, and developing net new Named Entity Recognition and Natural Language Understanding models. We are standing up net new microservices that need to handle 1B requests every month.

Key job responsibilities

  • You will join a team of passionate engineers, software leaders and product owners who innovate and develop new ways to search for video content across Prime Video's expanding catalog.

  • You will lead projects that develop scalable, tier-1, AWS-based software platforms that serve billions of search operations each month.

  • You will lead innovation projects that involve cutting edge Machine Learning technologies like Large Language Models including Retrieval-Augmented Generation techniques, and developing net new Named Entity Recognition and Natural Language Understanding models

  • You will work with data engineers and applied scientists to experiment and launch new features and algorithms to improve the accuracy and efficacy of the search, and measure their impact.

  • Finally, you will partner with senior leaders across the org in developing a strategic vision for Prime Video, while also mentoring and developing a team of enthusiastic engineers.

This role reports into a Senior Manager, and has direct exposure to Directors and VPs.

To accomplish this, you will be expected to have an established background in leading large and complex programs (particularly scalable software systems), excellent organization and program management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to deliver results in a fast paced environment. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about connecting customer problems through underlying scalable software that raises the bar on customer and operational goals. Experience with machine learning and building lage scale web services-based applications will be helpful.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design

  • Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
