About The Opportunity

Job Summary: Under general supervision, sets up and operates special process machines and systems (i.e. heat treat, shot blasters, straighten, chemical clean, salt bath, vibratory tumble, and waste water treatment). Inspects parts to meet customer specifications and production standards

Key Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities:

  • Mixes chemical bath per written instructions.

  • Chemical cleans (processes) product following designated times and stock removal instructions.

  • Maintains designated chemical inventories.

  • Follows all safety requirements and utilizes designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Salt Bath (Kolene)andVibratory Tumble Machine(s):

  • Adds salt or media to system as required.

  • Regulates and maintains proper water flow to salt bath machinery/vibratory tumble machine.

  • Processes parts at designated cycle times, maintains designated inventories, and utilizes designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Waste Water Treatment:

  • Disposes of waste acid and Kolene sludge in accordance with written instructions.

  • Notifies EHS Manager and/or shop lead person if fluoride or PH exceed designated limits.

  • Collects samples from designated locations at designated intervals and records fluoride readings.

  • Maintains proper sludge, water clarity, polymer, lime, and sulfuric acid levels per written instructions.

  • Refers to written instructions regarding starting and stopping the system, mixing and transferring lime, and starting and cleaning the filter press.

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.

  • 1+years’ experience in manufacturing machine shop environment

  • 1+ years’ experience operating heat treat, chemical clean, salt bath, and/or waste water treatment systems preferred.

Additional Experience:

  • Ability to read micrometers and calipers

  • Good mechanical aptitude and basic math skills helpful

  • Must pay close attention to detail to prevent damage to product and adhere to all safety requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and walking (10 hrs. /day).

  • Ability to carry and lift weight up to 60lbs.

  • Bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling required (10 hrs. /day).

  • Repetitive actions may be necessary including simple and firm grasping and fine manipulation. Regular exposure to fumes, chemicals, and dust.

  • Use of hands for fine dexterity, light and strong grasping (10 hrs. /day).
