Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides technical support. Responsibilities may include computer programming or operations; research support; medical patient care; technical equipment maintenance, repair, fabrication or operation; or other technical support functions.

Unit Position Summary

Environmental Research Technicians - MSU Kellogg Biological Station, (Hickory Corners MI)

Environmental Research Technicians work on the Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER), Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC) and Long-Term Agroecosystem Research (LTAR) projects at the Kellogg Biological Station in Hickory Corners, Michigan. Technicians collect samples of soil, water, gas, and plants from research plots in all three projects. They prepare samples for laboratory analysis and archiving. They are responsible for entering associated data into spreadsheets. Routine laboratory and field project maintenance, installation and removal of field equipment, and organization of research materials is also a priority for technicians.

Desired Qualifications

Associates or bachelor’s degree in biology, botany, forestry or another related field. Candidates must be punctual, efficient, detail oriented, able to work well with others and motivated to work outdoors, regardless of weather.
