Google Product Engineer, Quality and Supplier Development, Smart Electronic Equipment Manufacturing in Hanoi, Vietnam

Minimum qualifications:

  • Experience enabling the transition of new products into high volume production, and experience with mechanical manufacturing processes, or in product quality process development and best practices with mobile or consumer electronics manufacturing.

  • Experience with cosmetic inspection methods, measurement fixture design and measurement correlation.

  • Experience implementing quality escalation processes and on-going product improvements with contract manufacture partners.

  • Experience in the development of module processes and its integration in back-end processes of Display Industries or related industry.

  • Ability to communicate in English fluently to actively participate in complex technical discussions.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in a Product Engineering (quality and supplier development, smart electronic equipment manufacturing) role or equivalent experience.

  • Experience supporting cross-functional problem-solving teams by using practical approaches (e.g., quality metrics, design of experiments, statistical process control/Six Sigma).

As a Product Engineer, you will be a manufacturing engineering professional on quality and have the leadership skills to pursue product quality activities with cross-functional teams, Engineering teams, the Contract Manufacturer (CM), and Suppliers. In this role, you will lead and manage the CM Quality team to identify risks and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders. You will take initiative and break down complex challenges or vague tasks in a comprehensive plan to develop, check, and make improvements in a fast-paced environment.

  • Use statistical process control and yield studies to validate process capability, establish reasonable specifications and drive process improvements in partnership with Tooling and Manufacturing process engineers.

  • Set up quality control plans, establish outgoing/incoming quality control processes, align on minimum standards of performance, ensure correlation between sites and track down root cause of measurement discrepancies in internal quality controls.

  • Be responsible for touch and display technology feasibility through theoretical stimulation and practical engineering methods, and for design and development of technically complex manufacturing processes to enable new product designs and functional requirements.

  • Provide technical direction to suppliers to establish and validate process capability during the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase for consistently delivering quality products in mass production.

  • Develop robust processes for failure analysis on customer returns to reflect the voice of the customers into both process changes and product development cycles.
