Who you’ll work with
The Commercial Director directs the formulation and implementation of sales plans and pricing/negotiation strategies that support company profit objectives while planning, coordinating and managing customer communications consistent with company short and long term objectives.

The Commercial Director reports directly to the Head of Programs and manages the Commercial Contracts team. They will work with internal cross-functional teams and externally with customers.
Takes the lead role in identifying and managing risk, through contact negotiation, change management, ensuring appropriate pricing and protection is in place.
Leads the Commercial and Estimating functions (including development and implementation of a site strategy in those areas).
Translates GKN Aerospace Commercial objectives into specific improvement objectives and / or targets for the site.
Ensures that the appropriate policies and procedures for successful Commercial and Estimating practice are in place and are functioning effectively.
Manages the interface between GKN and its customers to resolve key issues and build a strong customer relationship.
Takes responsibility and accountability for the operational performance of the commercial department.
Drives the development of the Commercial and Estimating team members to increase the knowledge and skill base.
Ensures effective commercial change management control, pricing, negotiation and contracts are in place.
Leads the business in establishing, assessing and proposing opportunities for new business and ensure that all Bids and Proposals are prepared in accordance with the GKN Aerospace Bid Process.
Takes responsibility and lead in review and negotiation of Terms and Conditions
Selects, compensates, motivates, trains and disciplines personnel in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Leads the site commercial team in the fulfillment of the following:
Coordinates entire quotation process including review of Request for Proposals (RFQs), check of estimate, compilation of quote letter, and follow-up.
Has responsibility to define and acts on problems areas including but not limited to maintaining full data files, reviewing/distributing drawings/design changes, directing/participating in project meetings, coordinating all data exchanges, advising customer of status, distributing customer correspondence to key personnel, coordinating/formulating responses to customer’s queries.
Works with business development to secure new contracts and develop forecasts of shipments/available business.
Reviews terms/conditions and negotiates terms compliant with GKN policy.
Reviews customer purchase orders for acceptability (terms & conditions, pricing, delivery specifications, government regulations and legal requirements) and prepares sales order and related directives.
Develops/recommends specific sales and pricing/negotiation objectives/forecasts, directs the execution of authorized sales plans and business administration to achieve or exceed profit volume and other business objectives.
Develops/recommends pricing strategy based on evaluation of economic conditions, competition, and state/federal legislation that affects the marketability of company full service reconditioning.
Participates in and is accountable for negotiations on product pricing agreements.
Maintains regular communications with necessary departments for the purpose of scheduling new tooling programs, engineering changes, and quality standards.
Keeps senior management informed of competitors’ activities through preview of information from internal/external sources.
Assists in the development and maintenance of a business culture, which supports the Company's overall business objectives and goals, by providing leadership in issues that involve “cost, quality, process, schedule and people”.
Ensures the company's commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment through the establishment and support of Company policy and adherence to various government regulations.
Fully complies with the "GKN Aerospace, Inc. Policy Statement on Contracting with the United States Government" in all areas of responsibility involving direct and indirect contracting with the United States Government.
Performs other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
5+ years of related experience in manufacturing contracts required, including such focus areas as program and project management, supply chain, and business development.
2+ years of management/supervisory experience required.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, law or engineering or related field, or equivalent additional experience.
Aerospace industry experience preferred.
High level of maturity and ability to exercise sound judgment in all dealings and associations with customers.
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
May require up to 20% travel.
US permanent residency (“green card”) or US citizenship
