Here’s the Gist:

Wolfspeed is seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on engineer with exceptional organizational, leadership, problem solving, and project management skills to join our growing team as a NPI Product Development Engineer.  This cross-functional role will entail the ownership of new products from concept to qualification and the development and execution of processes to maximize quality and minimize manufacturing cycle time.  The role will require contribution to and responsibility for coordinating activities across multiple departments in support of building out our world-class Power product portfolios.

The Day-to-Day:

  • Partner with BU NPI teams to support new products from "Concept to Qual" ensuring NPI standards are followed including process requirements, new part checklists, BOM details, process control plans, test plans, etc.
  • Work closely with BU NPI and R&D teams to develop and maintain manufacturing NPI roadmaps and actively negotiate schedules to align customer schedule needs with manufacturing resources
  • Effectively communicate NPI material status, issues, and successes with departmental stakeholders to ensure team alignment of priorities and drive performance against schedule
  • Closely monitor and analyze available statistical process control (SPC), yield, and parametric data to formulate engineering reports and actions plan for review with project teams and senior management
  • Drive root cause investigations of performance or yield signals to maximize product quality, minimize manufacturing cycle time, and ensure first pass qualification success for each program
  • Provide engineering/technical direction and design support to project teams

This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):

  • B.S. in an Engineering or related discipline and 5+ years semiconductor manufacturing experience OR M.S. in Engineering or related discipline and 3+ years semiconductor manufacturing experience
  • Related process/product development, or process integration experience in a semiconductor environment; demonstrated experience with an understanding of semiconductor wafer fabrication, assembly, and test methods
  • Experience with database queries and statistical data analysis using software packages such as JMP or SQL
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, capable of driving tasks with minimal supervision (but recognizing when to seek help), desire to learn, and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.

Highly Preferred Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Engineering discipline, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or related science discipline
  • 7+ years work experience as a Product, Process, Development, or Integration Engineer in a semiconductor environment; previous NPI experience preferred
  • Project management experience
  • Exposure to semiconductor manufacturing and Epi processes
  • Advanced data query scripting abilities or programming experience with SQL, JMP, or similar database and analysis software
  • Ability to interface with people of different backgrounds at every level of the organization
  • Strong track record of effective problem-solving, good engineering judgement, and decision-making skills
