Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer with some modeling and simulation experience with the desire to learn new technologies to join our innovative organization to help develop, enhance, and maintain cutting edge products and systems. Candidates will work on systems in all phases of the development lifecycle.

This position is located at Charlottesville, Virginia .

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in Engineering; Systems, Mechanical, Computer, or Electrical Engineering with 5 years of related engineering experience; or a Master's degree with 3 years of related engineering experience.

  • Experience with Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test processes and work products.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with the Engineering Team, stakeholders, customers, and other contractors to meet program goals.

  • Experience with physical model development using MATLAB/Simulink.

  • Able to write progress reports, problem reports, certificates of compliance, feasibility and trade study documents, and specification documents.

  • Experience with managing requirements and interfaces.

  • Ability to develop system architecture and specifications for new capabilities.

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.

  • Team player who takes ownership of tasks and communicates well with the other team members.

  • Ability to lead small technical teams.

  • US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain required DoD Secret Clearance - Interim Secret clearance or higher required to start.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MATLAB and Simulink expert working with a cross-functional team of software and system engineers.

  • Experience in MATLAB and Simulink C++ code generation.

  • Capability of developing attributes and specifications for government approval and creating a formal Engineering Change Proposal (ECP).

  • Ability to apply mathematical modeling techniques to develop physics-based models of various mechanical and electrical radar systems.

  • Experience in system engineering in Radar, Electronic Warfare, and/or Space technologies.

  • Experience with requirements management using DOORS.

  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using CAMEO.

  • Agile development experience.

This position is contingent upon candidate obtaining an interim secret clearance or higher to start.

Salary Range: $92,600 - $139,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
