Enhance product and service reliability throughout the product life cycle spanning the distribution channel from supplier to the end user. The primary function of the position is Quality Technician and responsible for: To conduct Product Quality audits, generate reports, and initiate corrective action; To conduct incoming Product Quality inspections and checks, and generate records; Interact with cross-functional teams in support of the Product Quality Improvement, New Product Development process, and support applicable initial sample approval; To support Quality Engineer in managing customer product quality alerts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports elements of the supplier quality system including supplier product re-evaluation, non-conforming material containment, root cause analysis (NCMR), and other corrective and preventive initiatives.
  • Supports Quality Engineer in implementing Companys specifications and engineering change control.
  • Supports improving Internal Quality processes, such as performing product incoming and shipping inspections, returns/claims handling, and measuring and monitoring processes.
  • Assists Quality Management to support other departments, such as Supply Chain/Purchasing, Customer Care/Tech support, and Warehouse, to improve internal processes.
  • Supports Quality Management to implement and/or maintain procedures and methodologies, when required.
  • Supports Quality Engineer for current and new product development initiatives, e.g. data and records from similar product current quality performance, also performing samples checks and measurements, including utilization of metrology and/or testing instruments and equipment, such as calipers, height gauges, Faro/CMM, durometers, gauges, check-fixtures, visual check references;
  • Supports product/process reviews related to warranty claims and customer complaints.
  • Supports Quality Engineer for trend analysis and quality metrics.
  • Supports and conducts routine reviews through random and/or scheduled audits of the related processes and products., e.g. stock, stock returns, packing, and identification;
  • Initiates periodic communication with internal customers and operations to support quality objectives that are clearly identified and acted upon.
  • Supports internal customers and operations to improve and enhance staff qualification for quality-related activities;

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Exceptional listening and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Able to make independent decisions with supervisory assistance
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to review tracking with supervisory assistance;
  • Proficient math and computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Working knowledge of measuring equipment, including care and maintenance.
  • Familiar with statistical concepts and their application, control charts, process capabilities, etc.
  • Familiar with ERP or similar systems;
  • Capable of developing quality work instructions, including operations staff training, as assigned or required;
  • Implements good housekeeping practices, with the familiarity of 5S methodology.

TRAINING and EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or general education degree ( GED ) is required;
  • Desired Associates Degree in the technical field, or Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent experience;
  • Desired current or prior ASQ certification,

or willingness to become ASQ certified [ e.g Quality Inspector, Quality Technician, Quality Audi or];

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the Manufacturing, Quality, or Engineering fields preferred;
  • Experience in automotive supply chain preferred;
  • Prior experience operating warehouse materials handling equipment is desired;
  • Prior experience utilizing metrology and/or testing instruments and equipment is required, including basic care and maintenance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (any specific physical attributes or limiting factors to be accounted for):

Work is performed in various environments, such as office,lab, manufacturing, and warehouse.

May be exposed to dust, noise, heat, and cold.

The position requires applicable safety equipment to be worn in designated areas.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may spend a large majority of time walking, standing, and using hands to push/pull.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.

The employee is required to lift and /or move up to 20 to 50 pounds regularly.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
