About the role: The Tech 1 Apprentice will learn to perform the job of a Maintenance Technician as part of C&W Services's Apprenticeship Program. During the program, technicians will learn to install, alter, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex electrical and mechanical systems. Through the completion of comprehensive virtual sessions and on-the-job training, the apprentice will develop the skills necessary to transition into a level 2A Maintenance Technician. The apprentice will also train in and adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures. Participants must be able to attend three 12-week training sessions at multiple nodal client locations, followed by completion of 42 weeks of on-the-job training at a large-format client site or similar facility. Please note -travel between local sites will be required for the duration of this program and will be reimbursed. Participants will receive a starting hourly rate for training, with equal increases every 12 weeks as they progress through the program. Key Responsibilities: Follow work processes closely, and ensure a safe environment while job shadowing with a mentor Communicate and work well within a team environment Work with technical documentation Work on a computer to complete virtual training sessions, analyze data, and communicate or diagnose machinery Work with material transfer conveyors Learn to identify machinery issues, repair, and then monitor for improvement. Learn PLCs and work with Automation Engineers in a logistics environment. Combine electronic, mechanical, computer, and control skills at the workplace Work with complex, high-performance manufacturing systems Analyze technical specifications of mechatronic systems, subsystems, modules, and components Perform scheduled, predictive, and preventive maintenance to detect and prevent problems Incorporate relevant technical literature into the understanding of system operation and coordinate efforts with other technicians involved in installing or maintaining equipment or components Install, repair, adjust, and test equipment and components to ensure that systems function properly Communicate with machine operators and operate equipment to detect equipment problems, analyze malfunctions, and verify system problems Observe and incorporate safety standards and regulations required for safe operation of the system Work any shift Perform all physical duties of a skilled labor associate (e.g., heavy lifting, prolonged standing, bending, twisting, and reaching) Program Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age Must be able to travel locally between sites in each node. Must be willing to commit to a 78-week training program.
